Media are things/objects through which we understand and engage with the world around us, in other words, that humans use to mediate between themselves and the world.

Media are pharmakons.

Media requires mediation.

Media are environment-specific and shape the way we live.

Media require management systems.

Media are externalisations of the self.

Media easily become invisible.

Media can be both material and immaterial.

Media have affordances and detractions.
