Media requires mediation

Certain media requires mediation for us to use, access, etc.

For instance, with water as an environment, the only way humans survive in water is with technology. We have to be technically mediated in a way that water-living species do not.

Humans rely on a kind of artificiality - a form of fakeness we do not see in other creatures e.g. sea creatures. These include clothes, cooked food; a form of processing the natural world. This was brought about by fire.
